Buffet’s
Who goes to a buffet restaurant and only eats one plate of food (actually my dad does, and it kills me!)? I mean, if you are going to pay the price for all you can eat, then EAT! I recently went to a buffet with my dad at a local casino, and it’s proclaimed “the best buffet in San Diego” - so of course I had to try it. I have always been a big fan of buffets. I love variety, and I love to have a little bit of a lot of food. Recently though I’ve lost about 20 pounds, which on someone that’s only 5′ tall, is a lot. I am currently 105 pounds, so now it’s hard for me to eat the volume of food that I used to eat.
So at this buffet, it was totally awesome, the food was great and there was a lot of variety. I ended up eating two plates full of food-pork fried rice, lots of different vegetables, egg rolls, tomato halves stuffed with egg salad, steamed asparagus, I mean the list goes on. The list of what I DIDN’T eat is smaller. Then of course I had to try a few desserts-cannoli, mouse cake, eclairs, etc. and boy oh boy, I almost exploded.
My dad had to actually take my plates away from me so that I would stop eating. I just wanted to get my moneys worth! Isn’t that was eating at a buffet place is all about? It’s like a competition. Can you eat the value of the price that you just paid? Can you make the price you just paid (which is usually too much, especially at a casino) worth it? I dare you to try next time you go to a buffet, to eat as much as possible. Think about what you’re eating and how much you paid. Make the buffet owners sorry that they made it all you can eat! I think that’s what I try to do each time, seriously.

People always eat too much at buffets.

I have to agree with sean047…I now avoid buffets as much as possible. I know I won’t eat $18 worth of food, at least not without getting sick, and getting sick simply isn’t worth it. I’m now around 90 lbs under what I once was, and my more limited diet (the way I got here) has left me unprepared for that level of gorging. Even Thanksgiving has changed for me…one plate’s worth is all I can handle, and that can’t be piled up, either, or I get sick. When everyone heads off to have seconds, I go for a walk.
I can see wanting to get your money’s worth, but for me it simply isn’t worth the gross feeling afterwards. And I don’t want that weight I lost to EVER come back!
