Beer

Published by daynafrances at 9:59 am under Everday Living Edit This

This blog is going to be about beer. I enjoy beer. My new favorite is Bud Light Lime. I don’t drink that often, maybe three beers on a Saturday or something. I stopped drinking hard alcohol in February, with my dad. I do miss it, and it sucks because I wasn’t the one with the problem, so it’s like if someone with an addiction to chocolate stopped eating salad. But whatever. So I think beer was a great invention. I wonder who thought barley and hopps would taste good in liquid form!? LOL! It’s so funny to think about how certain things came to be.
I guess wine is understandable but beer? Come on. I do love the small-town craft beers, I love the taste. It’s hard to get used to but I love them. Recently Miller came out with some craft beers, I have yet to try them. I have a thing against popular people/places/companies branching out from what is their standard. If you have a working formula, don’t change it! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

Bud Light…ew… I must say, I don’t really appreciate the Budweiser line of products so much (EDM=”beer snob”). Last night, for example, I went to a beer tasting thing with my dad at our local (Jewish) grocery. It was cool, Great Lakes Brewing had their own rep/table, and many other beers were available (none of which were either cheap, watered-down, or “light”) for tasting. My favorites:
Thirsty Dog Brewing’s Siberian Night (stout),
    Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale,
Great Lakes Brewing Holy Moses White Ale,
Great Lakes Imperial Dortmunder Lager (anniversary edition),
    Duvel Belgian Ale,
    Dogfish Head 60 min. IPA,
    Ommegang’s Three Philosophers.

Of 39 beers on the list, I probably tried 30 of them. Not available were any of Great Lakes’ seasonal brews. Of which, the Oktoberfest and Christmas Ale are awesome, and sell out quick around here. Where the spring and fall seasonals, Blackout Stout (9.0% alcohol!) and Nosferatu Ale (8.0%), respectively, will knock you on your ass.

Speaking of beer, my wife suggested that we should go to Stone Brewing whilst in sunny SoCal. Sounds good to me.
