I get extreme weather updates via email from MSN, everytime there is an extreme weather watch or warning. Usually it’s a warning for fog, flash floods, or fires. Today, for the first time since I’ve lived in Southern California, I got a Tornado Warning! I grew up in Colorado where Tornados warnings are the norm, especially in the summer. I have lived in Southern California for ten years, and have never heard of a Tornado warning here though, until today. What’s up with Southern California weather? Fires every year, earthquakes, major fog, tsunamis, rain, snow, flooding, landslides, high wind, extreme heat, and now tornados!?
They say that Southern California is the best place to live in the world - San Diego county in particular, which is where I live. I do have to disagree. I can not stand to live here anymore, and can’t wait until my husband lets us move back to Colorado. I will take snow, hail and tornado warnings any day over fires and earthquakes. Southern California has every weather condition you can imagine. It’s like you took every weather condition from every city in the United States and put it all together, and that’s what we have. It’s only been in recent years too, but still, it’s horrible! It’s expensive to live here and it’s overcrowded and now we have to deal with all of this extreme weather. Why would anyone CHOOSE to live here?

I didn’t do well in high schiool. In fact, I HATED it and it was hard for me. So when I graduated, I swore I’d never go back to any school, ever. I still to this day have nightmares about school. Where’s my class? What class do I have next? Where’s my car? Where’s my locker? What’s the locker combo? It never ends.
Then last week something snapped in my brain, and I decided I was ready to go back to school. Don’t ask me why, because I have no idea. I just did some research online and decided to sign up at the University of Phoenix. All of my schooling will be 100% online which saves me a lot of anxiety and time. I am going to get my business degree in accounting - at least that’s what I’ve decided at this point. I’m only going to work toward my associates degree right now and we’ll see how I feel after that’s done.
I’ll still be working full time, and I will be taking two classes at a time online which makes me a full time student as well. I’m actually pretty excited. I graduated high school 7 1/2 years ago, and I think I am finally ready to get some more education. And even if I don’t learn anything, at least it will look good on paper for me to have furthered my education outside of high school. Right?

I haven’t blogged in a while - nine days to be exact. No rant today, I’m feeling sick. I think I have been fighting a cold for the past few days. Today my right ear hurts a lot, as if it’s starting to get an infection. It hurt the day before yesterday also and was itching. I took lots of Nyquil and yesterday I actually felt fine, but not today. My husband had been sick but has been better for about a week now, so I thought my chances of catching what he had were slim to none, so we’ll see what happens. I hate how the transition of seasons makes people feel like crap. I wonder why that is? Like if it’s too windy, or too dry, or too hot, or the weather changes from hot to cold too quickly, it wreaks havoc on peoples’ health!

Two nights ago I had a really weird dream. The dream started with me at the airport in Colorado, trying to find a flight back to San Diego. I had to wait in this line outside and everyone in like would get on teams, and had to answer questions, and if we got the questions right, we got a prize. So we answered all these questions and I ended up getting into a limo. Inside the limo with me was my dad, and a couple other friends. There was also some dude driving-he wasn’t a professional driver, he was someone that someone knew, but I don’t know who he was. At one point, someone had a big bottle of Tequilla and my dad had them woman pour him a wine glass full of it. I told my dad he better eat something before he drives home, and we were in downtown San Diego at that point and I was looking at all the restaurants, trying to decide which one to take him to. His face looked really weird and he looked really out of it. Then we kept driving and I was eating a Taco Supreme from Taco Bell. Then we drove up this big mountain, and it was completely dark outside, and we got to the top and ended up driving off and crashing. I remember when the car was flipping and bumping, I was like, “What the heck is going on?!” but I wasn’t fully scared. Then the car stopped, and my dad and I got out, and from the outside, the Limo looked like a giant Taco Supreme. We were trying to dig everyone out of the taco mix and I was choking on the taco, because I was eating while we crashed and I almost choked to death. My cat Phyre was also there, and we were the only three survivors.

So on 10/28, I called the front office of my apartment complex and told them I couldn’t pay all of my rent on 11/1. I told them I could pay $700 on 10/30 and the rest on 11/7, and the girl I spoke to said that was fine, but I’d have to pay a late fee of $50 and the money that I paid after 11/5 would have to be in the form of a cashiers check or money order. I said that’s fine, I don’t really have a choice since I will not have all of the rent money before 11/5. So I took up the $700 check on 10/30, just like I said. Later that day I got a call saying that I couldn’t pay partial rent, that I needed to pay all of the rent, in full. Of course that made me angry since I was already told that I COULD pay partial. I told them to just hold the check until I could make it in to pay the full balance. So on Friday, 11/7 when both my husband and I got paid, I went to the ATM machine at Washington Mutual and tried to withdraw money from the machine. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t let me take more than $500 out! I’ve never had to take a lot of cash out before, since I’ve never been in this type of money situation before, so I had no idea there was a daily limit. That was on my lunch break that really didn’t exist, so I had to race back to work and think about how to get the money. So after work, I had to actually go inside WaMu and of course since it was Friday, there was a TON of people in line. I waited, but was finally able to get all of the cash I needed and put it into a Cashiers Check for rent. I called my husband and told him I would be late getting home because I was taking care of rent, and he says, “OK good because they put a letter on our door saying we must pay rent within 3 days.” Wow. I called them a week and a half ago telling them I would pay on the 7th, and the 7th wasn’t even over yet, and I’m already getting threatening letter?? How rude! At least give me til the day after I said I would pay it. Jeeze. So I go into the front office and hand them my cashiers check and I get the 3rd degree- is it cashiers check or money order? Is it the full amount? Does it include the late fee? YES! Just because I paid rent late ONE TIME in the two years I’ve lived here does not mean I’m an idiot. I wish they would just treat me like the normal, good person that I am. Jerks. So that’s my rent rant for this month

I read today that there are around 3 million ballots that still need to be counted from California into this 2008 election. Do you think that’s enough to overturn any of the Props? I personally don’t think it is, but man, you never know. That’s why I try not to put too much thought into which Props passed or did not pass, until every single last vote has been counted. It’s not really fair to those who’s votes haven’t been counted.
I also read today that there were a bunch of ballots from/for people in the military that never got turned in, that were never received, or that were received late and in turn sent back late, so none of them counted. Do you know how many military people probably voted for McCain? That sounds a bit shady to me…it was a pretty close election and to have all of those military votes could really hope. They say the same thing happened back in 2006, where a lot of military people (we are talking thousands and thousands) did not receive their ballots to vote in time. That is so shady! I can’t believe that’s legal and I can’t believe that people stand for it. I would protest if I were in the military. You’re over there, risking your life for your country’s freedom, but yet you can’t even vote!? That is bass-ackwards.
I also thought it was funny that here in California, Prop 8 passed which was to ban gay marriage, and yet Prop 4 did NOT pass. Prop 4 was that if you are a minor and you want an abortion, your parents must be notified and then there is something like a 48 hour waiting period before you can get the abortion. So Gays can’t marry but babies can be murdered? Now THAT makes no sense. But whatever, I’m just glad it’s all over and we can get on with our lives and wait and see what happens with the new president (God help us all).
