Equality for all-even when rent is due!

So on 10/28, I called the front office of my apartment complex and told them I couldn’t pay all of my rent on 11/1. I told them I could pay $700 on 10/30 and the rest on 11/7, and the girl I spoke to said that was fine, but I’d have to pay a late fee of $50 and the money that I paid after 11/5 would have to be in the form of a cashiers check or money order. I said that’s fine, I don’t really have a choice since I will not have all of the rent money before 11/5. So I took up the $700 check on 10/30, just like I said. Later that day I got a call saying that I couldn’t pay partial rent, that I needed to pay all of the rent, in full. Of course that made me angry since I was already told that I COULD pay partial. I told them to just hold the check until I could make it in to pay the full balance. So on Friday, 11/7 when both my husband and I got paid, I went to the ATM machine at Washington Mutual and tried to withdraw money from the machine. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t let me take more than $500 out! I’ve never had to take a lot of cash out before, since I’ve never been in this type of money situation before, so I had no idea there was a daily limit. That was on my lunch break that really didn’t exist, so I had to race back to work and think about how to get the money. So after work, I had to actually go inside WaMu and of course since it was Friday, there was a TON of people in line. I waited, but was finally able to get all of the cash I needed and put it into a Cashiers Check for rent. I called my husband and told him I would be late getting home because I was taking care of rent, and he says, “OK good because they put a letter on our door saying we must pay rent within 3 days.” Wow. I called them a week and a half ago telling them I would pay on the 7th, and the 7th wasn’t even over yet, and I’m already getting threatening letter?? How rude! At least give me til the day after I said I would pay it. Jeeze. So I go into the front office and hand them my cashiers check and I get the 3rd degree- is it cashiers check or money order? Is it the full amount? Does it include the late fee? YES! Just because I paid rent late ONE TIME in the two years I’ve lived here does not mean I’m an idiot. I wish they would just treat me like the normal, good person that I am. Jerks. So that’s my rent rant for this month :)

Sheesh! Do they want your money or not?

Just remember, it’s not about you. It’s about their own rigid system.

Not that I’m happy to be OWNING a house right now, with equity falling into the toilet. My house lost $18 grand last year alone!
